The Ombudsman drew attention to the systematic violations of human rights in law enforcement

Annual Report of the Ombudsman on the state of observance and protection of human rights and freedoms in Ukraine in 2014 was published on the official website. The report covers problems not only on a national scale – in particular violations of human rights and freedoms during the Revolution of dignity, in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and during the ATO (particularly violations relating to the rights of internally displaced persons and the Ukrainians who found themselves abroad).

Also report human rights violations that are systemic in nature. In particular, was conducted control of violations of human rights and freedoms in the Police department and the Prosecutor’s office of one of the districts of the city of Lviv. This test showed the presence of a number of serious and systematic violations of human rights in the activities of law enforcement agencies in our region.
In particular, it identified the following offenses: illegal detention and the delivery to the police station, the deprivation of the right to protection from the moment of actual detention, lack of proper control by the prosecutors and the court –  unfortunately, and still are systemic to the whole country.
